Does it hurt to get circumcised?

katy - 2008-06-13 19:29:54 - Men's Health

i know most guys get circumcised when there a baby but i was wondering if it hurts from guys that got it done when they could remember??

Best Answer:

I was circumutilated when I was about six years old, I was given a shot before the surgery, that in it self burned a bunch but then I did not feel the cutting. However it did hurt like a son-of-a-b for days afterward. They say that babies don't feel pain the same as adults do, actually they most likely feel it more, their nerves are brand new, nerves deteriorate all through our lives, a man of fifty has only a fraction of the nerve sensitivity that a teen has. The nerves of a baby have not lost any of their sensitivity. But they say it is OK because a baby won't remember it, well my dear if you will just look the other way I'll drop this pill in your drink, in the morning it will be OK, you won't remember a thing. Lack of memory of a crime makes it OK???

I worked in a nursing home where an elderly man had so many infections due to not being circumcised that his wife had him circumcised in his 80's! Guy was alzheimer's patient. Anyway, judging from his comments and behavior afterward I would say yes it hurts!

Go to youtube and watch some videos of babies getting circumcised and you will know that it hurts a great deal.

I wouldn't know. When you are baby, you don't remember anything. But I would say yes. If you were like a teenager, I think it would hurt A LOT. Done there is sensitive. It would be like getting a bad cut and if you poked it, it would hurt. But don't there it would probably be 25x Worse.

Unless anesthetics are applied, I'm fairly certain it will.

It doesn't matter WHEN you get it done. Removing an organ (yes, the foreskin is an organ which has a purpose) ANY organ it will hurt. It is a surgery that is painful and un-necessary except it is a multi-million dollar industry which buys foreskins from hospitals and Doctors and then makes them into beauty products for women along with burn bandages for burn victims. Circumcision is nothing more than criminal to men and women alike. The whole idea that it "Prevents" anything is idiotic.

Yes, of course it hurts! Watch this video with the sound on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIRANs0eXwI Thankfully only half of baby boys get circumsized in the USA nowadays.

It's painful no matter what age you are. But it's not quite as bad if you get it done at an older age because you can be administered general anesthesia which they don't use on babies because it's too risky. They will only use a topical numbing agent on a baby (which doesn't really work). It's also more painful for infants becaues the foreskin is attached to the glans, so they have to rip it off first to separate it which they don't have to do on adults. As an adult, a guy can get anesthesia an only feel a little pain during the operation. The most painful process from what I hear is the recovery period which takes several weeks. Since babies have no memory of the procedure, people feel that its better to have it done at that time (if their parents choose that). Of course you would probably not remember breaking your arm when you were a baby either, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8846931650336259736q=infant+circumcisionei=PbNTSKKYNY-8igLplNz6Dghl=en
