I have a gas fire with a back boiler, is it possible to replace the old wall mounted fire with an inset one?
Best Answer:
Unfortunately no,if you want an inset fire you will have to replace your back boiler with a convensional floor or wall boiler. Some manufacturers did produce b/boilers with inset fires but they have now been phased out due to efficiency laws. You could get a combi boiler or retain the hot water tank and have a system boiler fitted.

As said, you will have to replace the boiler, the back boiler you have is not compatible with the inset type, you will have to have a condensing combination boiler and take the tanks out, or a system or regular boiler on a wall and keep the cylinder, to install an inset fire, you then need to change the flue liner, install a double skin flue box and then either a suitable fire for the wall, or a fireplace to fit the fire into, research before you change the boiler, and research again for the fire, prices vary immensely and cheap isn't normally good, you could spend between £2500 and the sky to do this properly.
